A symbol of growth

A new identity to reflect a growing institution 

Established in 2005 MSSI (Medical and Surgical Skills Institute) Ghana was the first Surgical Training Centre out of the USA to provide Surgical Training in Advance Trauma Operative Management. The organisation has grown extensively over it’s ten year tenure with the introduction of new disciplines, key partners, donors, medical professionals and associations as well as new teaching hospitals worldwide and government organisations.

Now reaching far beyond the parochial routes of the original brand, MSSI wanted to reflect their growing organisation and asked us to develop a new brand identity which represents the modern, forward thinking institute.

Pursuit of knowledge

We wanted to retain the West African heritage of the institute while creating an identity which represented the principles of the organisation. Through our knowledge and further research into the West African culture, we identified the tribal symbol for Wisdom as the perfect representation of the organisations core principles. The symbol meaning ‘he who does not know can know from learning’ represent life-long education and continued quest of knowledge.

 

The new brand identity focused on the institution and their groundbreaking achievements in the West African region. By removing the country specific reference in their name and aligning their brand values, we created a device with longevity which will grow and adapt with the organisation and provide far reaching applications.

The device was unveiled at the gala dinner which celebrated the institutions significant milestone, applying it across room dressings, the event programme and promotional gifts to help bring the brand to life.
